North Korean Architecture

Across the country, the standard of dwellings varies. The conditions on who is allocated where are based on something that is only known to the authorities. All visitors and outsiders rely on information that is officially accessible here and in the mass media. I formed my own opinion based on what I actually witnessed and words heard; therefore, it is subjective.

A striking difference in attire between men and women.

Bright colours within the train station.

Same pattern of colours within a block of flats.

Half of them are unaffordable to average citizens.

Traffic jam in Pyongyang is almost non-existent.

The cult of the Kim family is visible on every wall, station, and office.

Nice and tidy with Kim’s family watching.

Most common (and the only) means of transportation.

Houses for the chosen ones. Look of admiration.

Houses for the less fortunate.

    1. True, visitors have to be careful and compliant whenever they pull out their cameras. One has got to remember that it is relatively easy to enter this country but may be harder to leave it.
