South Sea Island is Fiji’s most popular day trip island and is a short high-speed catamaran ride with South Sea Cruises from Port Denarau. You can make the most of the day by, snorkeling, and diving. Complimentary use of water sports equipment such as snorkeling gear, kayaks, or paddle boards.
During lunchtime, visitors gather around tables at the open-air restaurant to watch Fijian performances and explore craft markets. Some drinks like local beer or house wine are free and included in a day trip. Weather conditions were not too favorable on that day but still managed to experience semi-submersible submarine for underwater viewing.

Barefoot Island is located on Kuata Island part of the Yasawa group of islands. These volcanic islands are characterized by stunning mountainous peaks up to 600m above sea level. The archipelago stretches for more than 80 km and is 78km from Nadi, Fiji. We are surrounded by three pristine beaches, while the rest of the island has been left untouched and uninhabited. There is one hiking path that reaches the summit of the island, and you can only access the island’s other beaches by water. Adverse weather conditions prevented me from taking full advantage of this place, however, I got what I came for, eventually – snorkeling with the sharks! Watch it here, please.

Barefoot Kuata Island Resort’s surrounding and nearby waters are rich in marine bio-diversity including Fiji sharks. Fiji shark species identified to date include White Tip Reef Sharks, Black Tip Reef Sharks, Tawny Nurse Sharks, Lemon Sharks, Silver Tip Sharks, Bull Sharks, and Tiger Sharks.

Smaller and harmless Reef Sharks can on occasion be found immediately in front of Barefoot Kuata Island Resort whereas the larger Fiji shark species habitat Yakawe Reef, far away from the resort, it is a 25-minute high-speed boat ride.
