Tale of two families, Lesotho and Iran

Once I reached the amazing Mafika Lisu Point I decided to head to the village near Thaba-Tseka to have a better insight into the way local people live. Together with a lovely guide friend, I had the opportunity to meet her. Their hospitality and genuineness were impressive.

Typical dwellings, simple and very basic. Yet, the joy and happiness were visible and radiated a lot, especially during dance festivals. I was treated like a member of the family and shown around the village, and even invited to the soon-coming wedding party.

Exploring the otherworldly landscape on my way to Bam in Iran. The city was a very unexcepted addition to my itinerary and as this often happens, it brought many new challenges and experiences, from car accidents to clashing with locals armed with rifles.

My visit to Bam would not be complete without the usual meet-up with local dwellers. After visiting the main attractions, I drove just outside of the city to check out less urbanized areas and possibly encounter some inhabitants. The scorching temperatures didn’t help and soon my thirst was getting to me.

Again, with some luck and a curious attitude, I found a friendly and helpful family who not only offered me a huge pitcher of cold water with lemon but showed me around their dwellings and surroundings. What a wonderful experience we all had. Another chapter in cultural exchange in my journeys.
