Getting prepared for a long adventurous ride to the Lake Abba camping site. While my pals making some additional supplies from the local health center, I was making new acquaintances with locals.



The area looked like it needed some improvements, especially roads and sidewalks. Okey, we are almost ready to set off.





Djibouti has several military training grounds, including the Combat Training Center at Arta Beach, and the Holhol Defence Training Center. Djibouti is home to multiple military bases, including Camp Lemonier, a US base, and a People’s Liberation Army base. There is also a Japan Self-Defense Force base in Djibouti.



Another Town and similar landscape. Long convoys of lorries were frequent in this area.



Having driven a good 20 miles on the asphalt and gravel roads we reached flatlands and wetlands just before the sunset.



Welcome to Lac Abbe camping site. It got dark too soon but the pleasure of drinking tea and a tasty sandwich helped me enjoy the atmosphere of night.



Camping Area. That is your accommodation for the duration of your stay. Hats with mosquito nets and a basic bed were what was really needed. There was however luxury option for elite tourists.





Exploring the deserts and barren lands. some however were geologically rich. Geyzers and hot springs.

At the heart of Djibouti lies Lake Assal a remarkable natural wonder that captivates the imagination of visitors. This magnificent saltwater lake, which lies 155 meters below sea level, being the lowest point on the African continent.


Getting back to Djibouti city, the capital. Long exciting journey that brought new fond memories and new friendships.
