A Red Mailbox dominated trip to the Shetlands

Driving along and catching the beautiful views of almost every inhabited Scottish island in the Shetlands. I couldn’t help but notice one of the long-established’ British tourist trademarks – Royal Red Mail Box and Phone Booth.

I must admit it was kind of surreal to see them in such an isolated region, for anyone living in busy London and being surrounded by those red phone booths that sadly have already almost disappeared and been replaced by mobile networking.

It looked like the color RED dominated my whole trip to the Shetland Islands. I must admit this was one of my favorite travels in Europe.

With the advent of the mobile phone-only era, this conversation metaphorically teleported me to the 90s. or more like the 70s and the 80s. The British tradition is strong with this one.

Stand-alone red mailbox was still operational and letters were being collected regularly.

The weirdly-looking bus stop is actually a shelter where you can rest, warm up, and read a book. Fascinating that such an isolated spot has been well taken care of and actually used.
