Mafika Lisiu Pass to Sani Top, Lesotho

One of the highest roads in the country, Mafika Lisiu Pass is a mountain pass at 3090m (10,137ft) above sea level. Located in the northern part of Lesotho, Mafika offers amazing views of alpine-type flora. The road to the summit was built in the 90s of the XX century and crosses the Maloti Range. The pass is located between Pitseng and Lejeune and leads to the Ketsa Dam.

At the top of the pass is the Bokong Nature Reserve, the highest nature reserve in Africa accessible by car.

Mountain Passes to Sani Top

At Sani Top, looking around the barren fields with the hope of spotting any tribes. Here you will find a video of picturesque views during my ride across Mafiku.

Sani Top where I had the fantastic opportunity to meet a local nomad man. Wearing a traditional attire he seemed bemused with my curiosity. Apparently, these young men are highly and madly desired by Lesothian women due to their prowess, hygiene and cleanliness.
